One of our old friends got married last weeekend. We went to Kompong Thom (about 3 hours from Phnom Penh) to go to the wedding. Our friends are both Christians, so they had a Christian ceremony instead of a Buddhist ceremony. The families of the bride and groom weren't very happy about the Christian wedding. Everything went well and we were excited we were able to go! It was SO hot and we were all sweating like crazy!!! At 7:00 in the morning the family and friends of the groom meet and walk in a line to the bride's house carrying gifts. They then have a ceremony, eat breakfast (of rice cereal), then have another ceremony and eat lunch. After that they break until dinner and then have a meal with lots of dancing! We were way in the country, and everyone was excited to see Isobel (because she's so chubby and white!) and hold her! She came back to me with about five shades of lipstick covering her cheeks! The boys had fun getting to see lots of cows and chickens!
